Japan may be not my country but it’s the only country that I dreamed to be in until now. March 11, 2011 is the only day that Japan had the massive earthquake than us people (also Haiti). A long time ago, I posted about why I won’t play The Sims 3. And yeah, I got myself a new computer and tried it out. Of course I won’t buy pirated base games (but the expansion packs though I will), but there’s something for pirated owners or owners of the non bootleg copy of the game complained about and I will share it right here.

We all know that we bought already the legit copy (or the bootleg copy). But, something’s not right. So, I’m gonna type here on how to update your Sims 3 with an ease of perfection but with something that has to deal with the hardship.

Encountering the “Invalid File Error” is something that we should do. Anyways, did you know that your game is way older since its release? Now we want the latest patch to work right? Follow me:

First, download this one:

This is a crack fix. For users who are not using a bootleg of The Sims 3 can use this to fix the patch update. I recommend to manual update and don’t use the EA Download manager and do not exempt the game to your Windows Firewall (or any program related that has a firewall). But I am not saying use the CRACK. There’s something in it that you might find it useful. If you wanna crack it, your call.

Uhh, in case if you are looking for the password, it’s “thejoker”. The RAR I mean.

Once extracted, in case you re-installed your game, the current patch of the launcher is 1.0.631.00002. You will need to look for the 1.0.632.00002 patch to update the launcher. I won’t provide links for that but look for it. Same goes to those who newly installed the game too. You really need to update your launcher. Actually, in case it’s not required… Don’t get it instead get the 1.2.7 patch.

Alright, after those launcher updates (or in case you didn’t)… Extract the contents of that crackfix you just downloaded. As you open the extracted folder, you will see TWO hideous folders. There’s a “Before” and a “Crack” folder names. What I want you to do is to go inside the “Before” folder and copy everything you see and overwrite it to the game directory. Don’t ask me what’s the game directory. Oh well, in case your damn lazy… Here: C:\Program Files\Electronic Arts\The Sims 3\Game\Bin

Note: In case YOU installed it in A DIFFERENT DIRECTORY (like “K:\Games\Electronics Arts\Sims 3 etc…” and others, do the same).

Alright, since we did it, I want you to update the game to 1.2.7 with the patch you just downloaded.

Next, do the same with updating the rest of the patches. Why? To be frank with you… It’s SERIALIZED. Just like online games, you need to download sequel patches for example like Dance Battle Audition Philippines , if there’s a 6042 Full Installer (assuming that is The Sims 3 multilingual game that is complete with no missing stuff), and the latest patch is 6056 (the ones with the bugfix and everything else but ignore the 6056 in case if that patch doesn’t exist but if it does… UGH! just follow the flow of my story and you’ll know the hooligans behind it.) You need to download its old patches that starts from 6043 to the latest (which is the assuming or existing 6056).

In my case, I just download a patch that can support ANY previous patch but serializing it is really recommended because who knows what you’re really missing out is something that might help patch the bloody problem while playing the game.

Since you’re done with all the patching, now play the game.

In case you’re cracking it, uh… Just backup the “skuversion.txt”, “TS3.exe”, and “TSLHost.dll”. Who knows when another update comes, you might encounter the “Invalid File Error”.

Now for the FAQ:

Q1: I updated the game but I received the “Invalid File Error” even if my game is really the legitimate copy.

A1: I hope you followed my instructions but in case you did something wrong, go to the website listed below and check what patch can be compatible with the current one you have but uh.. I concur that the latest patch released by EA could work on any old patch as long as you patched 1.2.7 in. If not, then you have to start all over again but it doesn’t mean you really need to uninstall your game.

Q2: I updated the base game. Should I also update the expansion packs that I got especially the stuff packs?

A2: That depends if you find any bugs in the game but yeah, you really need to update. You may apply the same method but I don’t know how the process will be. It’s up to you to figure out since I am just using the base game for the meantime.

Q3: My patch says that it’s an invalid region. Any solution to this?

A3: You didn’t get the right patch for your copy.  Refer to the patch library on the websites below and view its tutorial on how to know the region of your game.

So yeah. Lately, I’ve been working on research on prices for a client (not computer client) who wanted to build an internet cafe. He wanted only something that can “fit” on the desks in the shop. Well, his internet cafe is more on food than computers so basically, it’s a cake shop somewhere in Malaysia. Well, the units would be shipped from the Philippines so he told me to get parts that are worth like less than 20,000 bucks. Online gaming would be nice too but still, the budget stays there.

I worked up all night searching around the online shops for the possible specs (at least to save 5000 per unit).

Until I got an idea from my Asus eePC laptop, it seems that the specs of the eePC could carry almost every online game that is popular (such as Steps Online in Malaysia since the gig is for girls though).

Anyways, mostly… Online games would be in than LAN games. Why? Online gaming is the future of gaming.

Parts List:

• Intel Motherboard with Intel Atom Processor (combo with Processors save a lot but the motherboard is small. So, why not get something small and cute?). Cost: around 3000 bucks.
• Slim CPU Case (around the size of a book) Cost: around 2000 bucks
• Team Elite 2GB DDR 800 or Apacer 2GB DDR 667 (I think I should go for Samsung but quite pricey though.) Cost: 3000 bucks
• any mouse and keyboard combo (ordinary but make sure it’s not really delicate). Cost: 1000
• 15″ LCD monitors (low budget type ones like AOC and Chimei) Cost: 5000 or 4000
• 160 GB laptop hard disk (make sure it’s Western Digital’s cheap ones). Cost: 1000

the total cost of the parts will be around 15000 bucks. Of course, everytime you buy an Intel Atom type modbo… Please know its VGA chip. Because, it will let you help to see if the online games you install will SUPPORT it. Counter Strike Source can still be played but others won’t. Maybe old games like Grand Theft Auto Vice City will still work. Just take note that ALL online games are running a Shader under 2.0 except Need For Speed World Online and others that has similar drawing shader with NFS World Online.

Now, with the total cost of parts… I was able to save 5000 bucks. But that doesn’t mean you’d keep that to yourself. Since there are 20 units to be made… Uh… Let’s do a little math:

20 units worth 20,000 (owner’s given budget) = 20,000 x 20 = 400000

20 units worth 15,000 (my given budget) = 15,000 x 20 = 300000.

Difference between the two: my given budget lets the owner save 100000. Take note the owner loaned Php 600000 for the computers and shipment alone. At least, all he could do now is to pay 100000 back so he gets 500000 as a loan instead. So, 100000 is left from the budget. That would be for the shipment costs (50,000) and the rest will be for the switch, router, network cables, network tools (crimping tool and testing tool), and one server worth also the same price.

The cash remained was 10,000. Whew. Well, that money went to the owner. At least he paid me half of the 10,000.

Anyways, for the setup. It’s simple though. Just a modified Windows XP which is the Tiny XP (uh, I did a few modifications just to make sure it will never be detected as pirated) and added these games:

• Dance Battle Audition SEA
• CrossFire
• Cubizone Steps Online
• Perfect World
• Grand Chase
• KOS
• Ragnarok
• Baby Cabal
• RAN online

and all the available online games for Malaysia but they’re all SEA versions (South-East Asia).

For those who wanted a slim cafe (than bulky computer units), use this method. But I reckon that the games (uh, offline ones like LAN party types or just good for single players) should be less in specs. Likely GameHouse games would do.

Yeah! We have now a lotta lotta iPads. A-Pads, some BlackBerry Pads, and now… a Samsung Pad.

Looks like tablets these days are promising graphical Kindles. (If you don’t know what’s a Kindle, go Google it up).

So yeah, this little pad has something what relates to the iPad (if you read my blog about how amazing or worse the iPad is to me… Maybe you should read this instead).

The A700 maybe a little bit smaller but it’s likely a photoframe to me. Regardless, this is one of Cherry Mobile’s tech advantages (even though there are some models of their phones which are similar to the China Phones I’ve been seeing around). The best part for this is that it has a GPS.

The A700 is somewhat designed for cars only (err… I bet the President of the Philippines would want this for his Porsche. I guess?) but the useless part is the camera from behind. I wonder why they add the camera behind it rather than in front of it to be used as a mirror? The camera used here is still less like a VGA typo. Meh, leave the cam and focus on the touch panel.

The touch panel of the A700 is really synchronized (looks like no pressure press isn’t much irritating than those Samsung touch screen phones) and to keep its synchronization on track, you have to calibrate it for some time in case it doesn’t touch the correct buttons.

What I like in this gadget that I could add in some applications that are used on the Apple iPad (likely, a few Java based stuff but games are really not good to be run here though due to the processor and memory will not cope with it).

So far, this is a good product. A must-have for those who are reading e-books (PDFs and txt documents). The only thing I wished is that if this supports .djvu extensions so I can read those ebooks I downloaded (err.. they’re old engineering books though). Internet browsing? Try and see for yourself. It might be a little rowdy at first when starting Facebook. The best part is the GPS. The worse part for the GPS, how to subscribe it. Google maps ain’t the option here to use.

Why that rating, it gives me the crazy low battery attention so I had to use my USB MP4 charger to charge it everytime I’m using the ebook just to read some Japanese recipes online in the kitchen.

Alright folks! It’s been a long time. No posting and nothing. Although I forgot why I made this blog, it’s because I wanna show you something on what I discovered. Err… Forget the PS3 and the XBOX 360. Nothing’s good on anymore since there a lotta hackers trying to take piracy in. Unfortunately, PC piracy sales are eventually decreasing since games are getting more and more secured and unhackable (err… GTA 4 Liberty City?).

Anyways, so yeah. I have this PC for 5 years. Except the videocard has been changed due to overheating. So, there are games that can run with this videocard but it gives some crappy stuff.

The videocard I will be taking example in is the GeForce FX 5500. Yeah, it has a 256 MB memory and its shader is 2.0.

If you wanted to know my computer specs, here they are:

• Pentium 4 2.8 GHz (478 typo)
• Intel motherboard (not going to state the kind)
• some 2 pcs of 512 MB DDR 400 RAM (err… memory)
• a GeForce FX 5500
• and some hard drives (filled with all the crap you could ever imagine. No porn in it.)

With those specs, I can play games that were published from the past until 2007 or 2008. The last game I played well on it (with a few crashes) is Need For Speed Carbon.

Well, am not really much into gaming but let me share you a little intelligence on why we should follow system requirements.

A while ago, I borrowed a pirated copy of Need For Speed Undercover (yeah, just in case before buying a legitimate copy somewhere. Could be online) in order to test if the graphics were worth the dough and guess what? It sucks. Of course the specs were able to cope except the video became crappy even if the shaders and video memory were EXACTLY as stated on the system requirements. Yeah, NFS Undercover requires a 2.0 Shader card with 256MB of memory but it lags and drops (err.. crashes). Thing is, when the game draws the game’s environment… There are cases that you’ll see some “artifacts” or some pink and black little boxes on the textures of the models (especially the cars). Yeah, your PC carried but your specs sucks (same to me).

Other people who can’t afford a good cheap gaming PC build would recycle it (yeah, I am one of those people) and try to check if some miracles would happen. Unfortunately, no.

On the other hand, another game was able to play well (even if the hardware isn’t compatible). That game is Red Alert 3. I was surprised that it was able to play but when the spawning of little soldiers come… That’s the time it would crash without further notice. So, if the videocard will keep drawing a lot of models or sprites…. The GPU overheats (except to those that are in balance). Oh well, since people want realistic games than just basic little moving boxes… Better to play this way.

So yeah, aside from that… Chances are that some parts of your computer might drop too and it’s not just the videocard itself. Who knows that the BIOS of the motherboard might die (GTA IV cases happened) or perhaps the RAM might be over its capability (might break with the heat).

Anyways, if you plan to make your old PC a gaming one or just in order to play the latest games… just upgrade your video card and add in RAM. Especially change your processor to the highest speed you can attain.

As for the game, this won’t run well on a 5500 FX video card even if you think it works well for you. I recommend you to get a newer card that is a little bit higher. And oh, it’s an AGP I’m using.

Hello good and bad people. Today, I have found a good Nokia Phone since the N93i and the E72 came out.

But yes, This phone has something that it’s durability will really last than those China phones that copies blackberry models and also iPhones. Well, this one’s better than the blackberry nor the Philippines’ my|Phone QWERTY phones which features the Social Networking integration. Read about what I wanna say about this mobile phone!

Okay. I stumbled on to these neat Nokia C3 mobile phones. And yes, these are the specs I am darn looking for! The price is right, the features are right (no need for 3G. I ain’t using it as a modem and besides 3G Modem phones die so quickly. RIP N93) and also… It’s almost like a BlackBerry phone or rather one of the Philippine phones that my|phone makes (which had a permanent social networking integration).

Now, what I like about the phone is…

Number one: The quality. So yeah, the housing shell is really that durable. But I am not saying you should drop it. This case is a bit thicker than the recent mobile QWERTY they make but pricey. Am not holding metal. Am holding plastic plus it’s even comfortable than the E63 anyways.

Number two: Features. Well yeah. I thought they only put the Opera Browser because sometimes when I use Opera… the pictures get crapped up. At least they left the Nokia OSS Web Browser inside it with Opera Browser. Likely two browsers in one phone.

Number three: Music Quality. Thought of playing Daft Punk and Taylor Swift was like I am playing on my Nokia 5610 again. Well, this one rocks than the 5610 I got.

Number four: Facebook is always online neither on GPRS or WLAN.

Number five: My personal fave, choose from two connections: WLAN or GPRS.

Number six: integrated messengers (Now I can chat on Yahoo! Messenger and Facebook Chat. Booyah!)

Now what disappoints me is:

Number one: Camera FPS is so low… I mean. Yeah. Can’t they make it to 30 FPS?

Number two: Can’t play the NES EMulator well or the GBA Emulator well enough. Why? The system is a bit slow but it was enough to run a few Java games.

Number three: a bit compressed QWERTY keyboard. Hurts my thumbs but lemme get used to this first.

Number four: Battery is rare to find and quite expensive. (that will come in 3 months anyways but replacement of batteries every two years makes your phone live long).

If you compare the price with a China made E72 with wifi and all… This one’s the real deal.

For the Filipinos… Grab one of these if you’re addicted to facebook. Besides, wifi here is even stronger.

For Nokia? I wished that they’d made a Fliptop (Clamshell) version of this kind of hardware. It’s unique and resembles almost the similarity of one of my dream Japanese phones. Of course, bigger keypad please and more on Asian Designs.

Ahem! Word for the world! PS3 Jailbreak is a USB typo exploit. It doesn’t have any memory flash but a simple board… with a tiny IC or something to upload the simplest unique script inside it in order to unlock the “dev console” of the PS3.

We heard about George Hotz case and blame for OtherOS removal but how bout this? Will Sony have something to say? All they say is that PS3 Jailbreak doesn’t effin work.

Now, as the days go by… There are clones ready made (but we don’t know if those clones will actually “work” well enough) for sales of course. Chinese pirates love to copy things and create a capital through a black market. Boy, I’m surprised. What surprises me with PS3 Jailbreak is that you can rip the full game and put it inside your HDD. Talking about hard drives, you do not need to install the content from the disc to the PS3 anymore. All you need to do is rip the disc and put it inside the hard drive of the PS3 and play. It will be as legit as it is as long as you do not share your hard drive. Why? I’ll tell you something.

Just like PC Games, we have to create some “Cracks” or a “patch” in order to play the game without the CD or play the game via Garena just to be able to have fun. In the PS3, you really need the tiny little dongle. Rumors say that Sony will remove the USB Ports. No. They won’t. Because the PSP Go needs to be connected to the PS3 for the other DLCs that the PlayStation Network might have to offer up and also, charging the PS3′s Dual Shock 3 controllers (and mainly… who knows that it’s updating the controller firmware… not sure).

So in case you exchange hard drives for the games… You’re screwed. There’s a code that’s ripped together with the game in order to assure that you won’t get banned from PSN. Well, a lot of friends of mine got a PS3 Jailbreak and tried to go online… No ban. But, there will be a BAN if you let someone use your hard disk on their other unit. And I think that won’t be a good idea.

Of course PS3 ISOs are fun to pirate but who knows that it won’t work anymore unless you create a certain “patch” in order to screw up the “codes” inside the game to make sure that you won’t get banned from PSN. XBOX 360s owners are the first ones to have the ban fest for having their consoles banned for modifications made until they have to switch to the PS3. Typically… For Sony, you can modify it as long as no piracy involve. Speaking of which… It’s coming soon.

The big problem for PS3 piracy is that… You can’t damn play it as a BD-R typo and yet BD-R discs are twice expensive than a regular PS3 game.

In the near future, I predict that Sony won’t remove the USB Ports but will try to find a way to target the HDD than the firmware they’re working on. I guess it’s time to bring back the OtherOS feature of course. In my case… I would buy still the games. Not just to support the devs… To play then sell it back. Of course, once you have the game in your HDD… Sell the game back to somebody else. Who knows after it’s been sold for a thousands of times… You might buy it back for 5 Dollars in the USA than an actual 50 to 80 dollars per game or preserve the discs until you feel like playing the game again once you deleted it from your hard drive.

I wish Sony can legalize this because not all gamers can afford a big time title of games that they wanted to play. PS3 Jailbreak isn’t a threat. But something that Sony is surprised of. Maybe Ken Kutaragi will approve of it as long as it doesn’t lead the games to piracy. If it does… Then that’s the time Sony will re-battle back just like what they did to George Hotz by removing the OtherOS feature.

David Blaine says that he had a lot of fans stalking his fanpage for new tricks to try out such as the coin bites and also other creep-out tricks that he makes. Lately, I’ve been getting weird wall posts about profile spy. So, I had to try this out myself.

Okay, here’s the big dealio: It doesn’t work on most areas. Or perhaps Facebook can take this as a hacking account device. We may have heard about the 50 million accounts sold on the net from Facebook right? So, in my case… It might link here. And the other point of the view is that this isn’t really a Facebook App too. Usually, such as those Facebook Profile skinning (yeah, you customize your profile’s looks by adding something that wasn’t supposed to be there like what you do on Friendster) apps you see on the Applications Directory, a possibility of 20% hacks are available but still serves as a friendly-user app.

I don’t mind about that part but you see… The point is, will this app link to hacking accounts? Well, I don’t wanna be scammed around for that part in the meantime.

There used to be an existing app of this back on Facebook but they had to remove it due to privacy concerns. I mean, if users wanna know who viewed them (just like on Friendster and MySpace)… Why not Facebook adds the feature but the problem is… It’s not anymore that private.

Another thing is that… If these kind of hacks will keep on its development, chances are that Facebook Servers will crash (seriously… They will crash like hell). It’s like saying that Google Servers will crash due to a virus known to be the Conficker which infected the whole database. To be accurate about it, once Google Servers will crash… The world wide web is dead. No Facebook, No Friendster, No Twitter, No Tumblr, No Japancupid (what?), No porno, No Filipina search (what? again?), No communication, and above all… NO YOUTUBE!!! So, same with Facebook… If the Servers of Facebook crashes… We’re moving back to the good ol’ MySpace and Friendster (unsafe for kids though).

I don’t mind if Zynga will lose a lot of cash once Facebook crashes. It’s their fault on not putting it up on their website.

As for me, I gotta get back to work.

Anyways, I went to this shop (not an Apple shop) and they’re offering an iPad up for sale. It’s a shop that sells the fancy gadgets like the PSP Go, the iPad (mentioned), the iPhone (unmentioned), the PS3, the Nokia phones, and others related to those (except they hate the videogame consoles).

Now, in today’s article. Let’s talk about the iPad. I mean… What’s the purpose of having an iPad?

In my case,  I can conveniently use this for music making, reading PDF e-books (instead of printing them). I usually print a lot of pages (uh… Guess what? I downloaded an e-book about hacking an XBOX 360 and I ended up wasting worthwhile paper for nothing! I blame my printer for destroying the environment) but in the end, I got bored so I used my cell phone to read those e-books I got from the net. But, in the other way around… It will just consume much batteries if I watch videos or movies (dang).

Here’s my personal description for the iPad:

• It plays music (just like the iPhone)
• Can do Facebook (for beauty parlors who has customers that wants to post on their status “I’m getting my hair done so shut up”) in another area.
• Read online newspapers (exotically rare)
• Touch screen games will be awesome (like hell it’s going to be my worse nightmare for tilting the iPad)
• acts like a Tablet PC

Okay, I mentioned Tablet PCs right? There’s a custom made Mac Book that’s converted into a Tablet PC. Maybe Apple wasn’t ready to make one of these neat old large screen iPhones I guess.

So far… The comfort is alright but still it had a lot of slight problems. The good thing is, Apple did not combine 3G and WiFi together. Yay. That’s a good advantage. Because, if 3G and Wifi are together in one iPad… The worse history will come.

It may be pricey but it’s worth using when you’re in the car or perhaps convenience in meetings. Mostly used by office workers. Get it? Now, it’s up to your decision to grab one or not.
